This was a very special wedding for us. Josh has known the bride’s family for most of his life, and when they asked us to be part of their Hidden Meadows wedding, it was a huge honor.
We also went a little out of our norm for this one and coordinated and did the floral/decor for the wedding. Kiana was a very chill bride and it made the experience a fun one for all of us. While the day was a little more rainy than we all hoped for, it did end up with an incredible double rainbow during dinner.
As usual, we asked the couple to answer a few questions for us:
How did the two of you meet?
On June 24th, 2015, Kiana and Ryan met on a mission trip to Fortaleza, Brazil. Ryan was from Colorado and Kiana was about to move from Arizona to Washington State after high school. They spent two weeks on the same team serving the people of Brazil. They became friends very quickly and stayed in touch for two years before they started dating on July 25th, 2017. During the two years of friendship, Ryan lived in Redding, California for school and Castle Rock, Colorado in the summers, and Kiana was pursuing her nursing degree in Washington State. For 15 months, we did long distance, but that came to an end on October 22nd, 2018, when Ryan made the move from Castle Rock, Colorado, to Everett, WA. We went from living 1358 miles apart to now living 1.4 miles apart.
Tell us all the awesome proposal details.
On December 9th, exactly one week after Kiana graduated nursing school, Ryan took her to Leavenworth, Washington. Ryan remembered visiting this place two years before on a church trip. Every December this little village has a Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony and this was the the perfect day to visit as it had just began to snow as Ryan and Kiana arrived. They spent the first half of the day walking around the shops in the Bavarian town and stopped to have bratwursts and pretzels for lunch. The snow continued to pick up and after lunch, they walked through the snow down to the Wenatchee River that ran alongside the town. They had a great time full of snow angels and lots of snow fights as they walked through the trees. Eventually they ended up down by the river where they sat and enjoyed the quiet during sunset. Then with snow falling around them, Ryan got down on one knee and asked Kiana to marry him. After she said “yes” they went back up to the village and watched as the tree lighting took place and half a million lights lit the village.
What is your most anticipated moment on your wedding day?
I am really excited for the first look. Mostly the one with Ryan, but also with my dad. I am also really excited to just celebrate with family.
If we bumped into the two of you on a relaxed weekend, what would you be doing?
Hiking, reading at home, or outside. Ryan loves sports and I enjoy watching him play.
