This Methow elopement could not have been more perfect.
From a beautiful ceremony under a tree that had been part of every important stage of their relationship, to an after ceremony off-road adventure (that took three attempts to get up the hill), and a surprise beautiful rainbow appearance… it was everything we imagined and more.
Also –Â can we just tell you about this cape veil??? Like … just a genius and gorgeous idea. Not sure you want a veil? This is a fantastic option that is stunning, easy to remove, and doesn’t ruin your hairstyle. Win win!
Ready to hear more about our couple?
How did the two of you meet?
We actually met at a mutual friends party in October of 2014 just standing around the fire they had going in the back yard. We both love being outdoors so things just clicked from there after Dennis struck up a conversation with me. Our first date date was doing haunted houses and zombie paintball so Halloween is always a big deal for us now!
Tell me the awesome proposal details.Â
In December 2018 Dennis and I drove 350 miles, staying one night in Lewiston, to McCall Idaho for a snowmobiling trip. After two days in McCall checking out the beautiful areas to ride, local shopping (terrible attempted ice skating) and eating out we checked out and loaded up for our next adventure, staying two nights at Burgdorf Hot-springs. We rented a rustic cabin at the springs and had to pack everything we needed to survive and stay entertained! The only catch was the 20 mile snowmobile only trip to get there which meant everything including our bedding had to come with us and fit on the sleds.
Our first day/evening consisted of checking in, getting a fire started at our cabin, getting everything unpacked and dried out from the sleds if it got wet, and setting up to cook with our new mini cooker and dehydrated meals/ desserts. We got to walk around the property and check out all the different cabins, the hot-spring pool and the stream it turns into. Next to the pool on one side is the check in cabin/ general store (where you can buy/rent some essentials if you forgot), on the other is the mens/ womens changing shack with a shared fireplace in the middle. We got to take our first dip that night and it was truly amazing! The next morning before heading out for a ride, Dennis took me down for a walk down to the spring pool again, as we were coming around the pool with not a soul in sight, Dennis got down on knee, gave a little speech about us (he’d clearly been practicing) and popped the question! I said yes, of course, and the ring he picked was amazing! His aunt still steels my hand just to stare at it haha. The rest of the day was a blur of bliss and more adventure. We did some more riding and even found an awesome bar open on the side of the trail! Back at the resort we met some great locals while taking a dip in the spring, and had a great time in our cabin just getting to sit back and play table games and cooking. There’s so much more but it was just such a great time, a great way to propose and a week neither of us will ever forget!
Is there a special reason you chose this venue for your Methow elopement?
It’s Dennis’ family property, that we absolutely love spending time at more than anywhere. ‘The Tree’ is where the actual ceremony will happen and its always been our first destination whenever we come out there. Its located on a beautiful plateau over looking the the Methow Valley and the Cascade Range beyond that.
If we ran into you on a relaxed weekend, what would you be doing?
We would be over on the property in Methow camping and riding dirt bikes, making memories with friends and family.
