I know we often talk about how much love a day is filled with, but this Carleton Farm wedding was one that the love was palpable. It had a presence all it’s own, like a person that was walking throughout every moment with us.
Throughout the speeches, the ceremony, and even just conversations during the day though – we found one common theme and immediately understood why.
Every single person referred to the bride, Sydney, as a light.
And there is no denying this. Sydney is a light. But that in itself even feels much to small of a statement. If one person could bring together so many people who respected, adored, enjoyed, loved on and felt calm in their presence, this was the person.
“To shine your brightest light is to be who you truly are.”
Roy T. Bennett
I’m actually posting this wedding a bit out of order – between our last wedding blogged and this one, there are 12 more in the queue waiting, but I just can’t help myself. Some days, we just need to put more light out into the world.
Sydney and Garrett are the best at telling their love story, so I asked them a few questions and want to share their answers with you, before their love story rolls out in photos.
How did you meet?
At the most classic Gonzaga University Bar, Jack & Dan’s. Syd and I had both been at a Christian Retreat as leaders the year prior, but didn’t get the opportunity to meet. She came up and introduced herself at the bar, we talked about some things he remembered me saying at the retreat, and I got her number. Two days later we grabbed coffee after church, which it turns out we both attended. The rest is history!
Tell us the awesome proposal details.
Syd had no idea, and I had tricked her that we were headed to a work event for my company. I even had my boss text Syd some details for bate! She fell hard for it, and we showed up early at Discovery Park in Seattle, we walked on the beach and then I popped the question! She said yes, and we drove home to both our families and tons of friends who had flown in to surprise her as well!
Why did you choose your venue, Carleton Farms, for your wedding?
We love the barn setting and how many people we can get in there! It is so beautiful with the backdrop and we are excited to have everyone outdoors!
Do you have any DIY touches to your wedding?
Beautiful wooden cross custom built by George Abel, Sydney’s boppy.
If we were to bump into you on a relaxed weekend, what would you be doing?
Probably at home, reading some books and watching movies. Maybe out for a hike or run. Church on Sunday and great breakfast.
