These two are one of the sweetest couples ever. They absolutely adore each other and have a deep admiration for each other, as they are.
Their wedding day was beautiful – sunny and warm, and filled with amazing people. They chose a beautiful space in Issaquah – Tibbetts Creek Manor – and the treed yard and pretty manor made a great backdrop for their wedding vision filled with lovebirds and a garden party. And speaking of parties, this was one for the memory books. The reception ran late and the dance floor stayed packed.
Let’s have the bride tell you the rest of their tale, and then don’t forget to check out their sweet wedding and leave them some comments.
How did you two meet?
We met online through OkCupid as I was moving to Seattle for pharmacy school. I went online to boost my confidence and Jason was the first person I met in Seattle after a few days of settling in, and the first person I had ever met from an online dating site. I like to say that God answered my prayers and works in mysterious ways, because all it took was one meeting for tea at Remedy Tea and we fell in love.
How did the proposal happen?
Jason proposed to me on the Carlsbad State Beach in California. We had flown in that morning to spend a week in the greater San Diego area before a pharmacy conference. He kept the proposal a secret from everyone except his best friend and the gentleman he purchased the ring from. While we were on the beach, we spent an hour talking about how we met and how we felt about each other, and Jason shared that he had never seen a California beach. I was getting very hungry for dinner, but thought he needed a few moments to soak in the new experience. I asked him we could leave to eat, but he wanted to stay for the sunset and I couldn’t figure out why (it was in 45 mins and I was starving). So finally 15 minutes later as the beach cleared he agreed to leave for dinner. As we were leaving he spun me around and said he had one more question. He got on one knee – I remarked is this real? what are you doing? – then I figured it out, as he said, “I love you Sarah Nicole Buterbaugh, will you marry me?” I said yes, and the rest is history. We promptly left for dinner at Chili’s.
Why did you choose Tibbetts Creek Manor?
I wanted to get married outside and I wanted the ceremony and reception in the same place.
Did you DIY or will there be any special decor?
Almost all of the décor is DIY, special would be the wedding count-down and the cake topper. We also put together the wedding arch and a photobooth area for people to take selfies/group photos. The photobooth is a PVC pipe structure with tulle background, in front of which are white balloons with gold ribbon tied to a birch pole laid horizontally on the floor.
What inspired the wedding colors?
Sarah’s favorite color is orange. Jason’s favorite sports team is the St. Louis Blues.
