Romantic + Whimsical | Missoula Montana Wedding

We traveled to Missoula Montana the weekend of October 28 to celebrate this romantic & whimsical Montana wedding that just so happened to fall on my birthday!

When we arrived in the getting ready suite to meet Toni & her girl squad, there was so much energy and excitement. Everyone was genuinely thrilled for her and there was so much laughter filling the room. Jared and his boys were equally in jovial spirits, and came up with some fantastic ideas for their groomsmen portraits.

Toni & Jared chose to not do a first look, so once the ceremony was over, we dashed outside to the beautiful park and were met with the absolute perfect light. Toni had a few specific shot requests in mind – including actual shots, where she drank her groomsmen under the table.

Our favorite part of this wedding was their fun reception game of Musical Chairs Scavenger Hunt. We posted a video of it below, and we think you’ll love it just as much as we did! There wasn’t a dry eye from all the laughter. It truly was a fantastic infusion of their personality and relationship – and we hope it’s a trend we see more of in the coming year. Ok, ok, I know we all want to know some of the details, right? I’ll have Toni tell them, and then don’t forget to leave this awesome couple some comment love below.

Jared totally played off my love for Christmas but knew I hated cliché proposals (on Christmas day, new years, valentines day, birthdays ect )

So he took me and our son to the North Pole in Couer D’Alene, ID. A Ferry Boat takes you across the lake to see santa at the north pole. There are tons of Lights and moving features to see and when you get to the workshop they fire up the sleigh and santa reads off the good list of boys and girls. Payson name was even on there 😉  We were freezing cold and read to go below deck when Jared got down on one knee to present the ring! I said yes obviously, and with frozen noses and lips we kissed! We headed below deck for some cocoa and admiring of my sparkly ring. when we got back to hotel he had our son Payson present me with my birthday gift (3 days early)…. A Steelers jersey with my future last name on the back! It was absolutely perfect and magical!

 

Through Mutual friends… his best friend and my best friend actually. and we were the best man and maid of honor in their wedding.

 

Close to our family and downtown Missoula. And its beautiful.

Griz football but we didn’t want a completely Griz wedding so we took their main color maroon/burgundy and paired it with gold instead of silver.

How long have you been a Snohomish Wedding Photographer?

Kate has been photographing since 1997 and Josh started in 2011. We started photographing weddings together then.

Josh and Kate of GSquared Weddings have photographed over 630 weddings together across more than 15 years — specifically in the Seattle and Snohomish County area. That’s not a flex for its own sake. It means that when your timeline runs 20 minutes late, when the clouds roll in over your outdoor ceremony, or when your reception venue is lit exclusively by Edison bulbs and bad overhead lighting, we’ve been there. Hundreds of times. And we know exactly what to do.

At GSquared Weddings, our photography style is rooted in one core belief: real is always better than perfect. We shoot in a documentary-editorial style — meaning we’re capturing what’s actually happening, not directing a magazine spread.
