September Sunshine | Olympic Sculpture Park Seattle Wedding

It was an uncharacteristically sunny and hot September day for this Seattle wedding.

From the moment that Lauren inquired, I adored her. She has one of the purest, kindest hearts I’ve ever seen in someone. She genuinely takes the time to show that she cares about others. I loved emails from her – I felt like I was talking to an old friend. Her soul is as beautiful as she is, too. One of the best kind of people. Reading her words about life and love, it only made sense that they chose to have their Seattle Wedding at the beautiful location of Olympic Sculpture Park.

When we met them in Seattle for their engagement session, Ed was quiet and reserved, a great match for Lauren’s compassionate personality. And when they mentioned Ultimate Frisbee as their “fun” thing, I was sold. They also have the cutest love story … When they met they discovered that they had the same exact (down to the year) birthday of Christmas Day! It was fate! But as always, we prefer to have the bride tell the tale.

In Lauren’s own words:

We met online, through OKCupid. It was Ed’s first date from online and (thank goodness) Lauren’s last!

We started at Schilling, a cider bar in Fremont, then walked down below the Fremont bridge, along the Burke Gilman trail and found a bench. It was the same spot of our first kiss!

One of our favorite thing about Seattle is it’s proximity to water. We love that the Sculpture Park will showcase Seattle’s beauty to our out of town guests.

Coral is very bright and happy and beautiful. I just like the color and we’re getting married at the end of summer, when it’s warm, but hopefully not too warm!

What special moments do you have planned for the ceremony?

Ed’s sisters will each do a reading. At the very end, we are going to invite everyone to sing along to “Joy to the World.” That might make people laugh!

I’m anxious, but excited for our first dance. We’ve been taking lessons and I think it will be fun!

Meet your photographers.

We’re Kate (she/her) and Josh (he/him). Married humans, emotional chaos wranglers, coffee worshippers, timeline nerds, Marvel fanatics, and occasional ugly criers at weddings. (Okay, maybe more than occasional. Look, vows get us. Every damn time.) Kate has been photographing since 1997 and Josh picked up the camera in 2011. We’ve done over 600 weddings together, including wedding coordination (sometimes we even get to do both at the same time!) 600+ weddings → “That’s 600 families who trusted us to be invisible magic and backup problem-solvers.” 14 years → “We’ve seen it all — and we know how to handle anything without making it your problem.” Coordination → Kate is also a certified coordinator which gives that extra boost for you during planning and on the day itself “We don’t just photograph your day — we keep it flowing, calm, and meaningful.”
