Emmorie & Joshua stopped by The Lookout Lodge during the 2018 Snohomish Wedding Tour, and not only did they fall in love with the venue, but that’s where we met them as well.
As with most love stories, this one is best told by the ones involved. From Emmorie:
How did the two of you meet?
Joshua and I met at a young adult church group hosted by my parents. As soon as he walked in the door I was swooned by his confidence and looks. He plopped down right next to me, leaned in, and said “Hi.” in the most awkward, creepy way. As we began to talk more he asked me my age, which I casually said 16, he was 20. Obviously he backed off after that and we became really close friends for 3 years. Then, after helping each other though heartbreak, school, jobs, and everything else in between. Joshua told me he had feelings for me and the rest is history!
How did the proposal happen?
Joshua proposed after pretending to propose to me about 7 times! He would constantly get down on one knee when we were saying our goodbyes and he even had a fake box! When Joshua did propose he did so where we first met, in the living room of my parents house. It was close to midnight on May 12th, 2018. It was so simple yet so perfect.
Why did you choose this venue for your Snohomish Wedding?
The Lookout Lodge is a place that speaks for itself. It is naturally beautiful and is full of life and stories! We feel in love with the woodsy, beautiful scenery and just knew we had to have it!
Are there any DIY elements to your wedding?
Almost all of our decor is DIY, we hand-made our arbor displays with silk flowers and old lanterns we found at a few stores. We used tin cans to hold our flowers on the tables and benches to add to the woodsy rustic look we were going for. We also used wood rounds from my grandparents house which added a special touch to the tables.
Why did you choose the colors you did?
We chose these colors based off Joshua calling me his sunflower since the moment we started dating. We knew that navy and sunflowers were a timeless color palette that would look good for our wedding. Joshua chose grey because it complemented the navy well, making it look a little more classy.
Are there any special moments planned for your wedding day?
We are having our first communion in the little gazebo down lovers lane after the ceremony. This is a special moment for us as it will be our first communion as husband and wife further symbolizing our new union.
Where would we find you on a relaxing weekend?
We would be at home, sitting on the couch watching Disney movies. Or we would be hammocking in the park.
