We raced the rain to capture this sweet couple at Farrel McWhirter Park for their Redmond engagement session.
I met Mandi at her brother’s wedding back in 2016. She was one of those magnetic personalities filled with goal-digging and determination and positivity that just makes you want to know her. We became friends on social media and soon were just chatting about life and our dreams and of course, our kids. I’ve kept a close eye on her updates, especially as I was suspecting that Michael would soon propose to this amazing, sweet girl.
And boy, did he. When they took a trip to Disneyland, this awesome guy popped the question right in front of Cinderella’s castle with one of the park’s professional photographers to capture it all. I won’t lie, I may have done a happy dance with some excited screams when I saw the post. When Mandi contacted me soon after (literally, I think it was maybe a day later) and said that she wanted to book us, I was thrilled. It’s always amazing when you get to photograph the wedding of someone you already consider a friend.
We started talking about their engagement session right away. They’re a super down to earth couple, and I sent them quite the list of favorite “woodsy” spots within a couple of hours of each of us. They chose this gorgeous park for the Redmond engagement session, Farrel McWhirter. It’s a park I’ve frequented since I was a little girl, and I love all the magic and wonder the woods hold no matter your age. The trees that touch the sky and the ferns that wrap around you, and the creek that runs through it all. I also love the adorable red barn and the fact that there are almost always horses out and about (the park offers horse riding lessons and parties). It’s a beautiful location in the heart of a bustling city and definitely a great spot for a Redmond engagement session.
Of course, Mandi’s little man came along, and I tell you what, this kid is not only incredibly well behaved (he didn’t complain a bit during our session), but super cute. He was filled with stories and questions and had just the cutest little grin, especially when he looked at his mama. I’m pretty sure his favorite part though was when he got to play on the swings.
We lucked out this day as we raced the rain – just as she changed into the green flowy dress (awesome Amazon find, btw), the rain started to fall. We raced through the last few outfits and spots (they were troopers and didn’t complain a bit) before the sky just opened up.
You don’t have to race through the photos though, so take your time and then leave them some comments below – this adorable Redmond engagement session couple would love you for it!
