This was our first time at Maplehurst Farm, and it couldn’t have been more perfect.

Laurie & Jonathon are so incredibly sweet, it was fitting that their “theme” was Meant to Bee – with adorable honey jars as their wedding favors. We’ll let them tell us all of the wonderful details for their Maplehurt Farm wedding.

How did the two of you meet?
We actually met on Match. You always hear stories of the crazy dating experiences others have had. So I was a bit hesitant to try it out. I had a few dates off the site but no one really felt like the one. I had basically said I was giving up on love and was just going to focus on being a father to my three boys. One more weekend was all I was going to do before I deleted my profile. Little did I know that about 60 miles away someone else had just joined and had mistakenly increased the age of men she was looking for by one which allowed her to see my profile. She sent a smile or a wink or whatever they call a like on Match. I took a look at her profile and decided to message her and say hello. We instantly hit it off and both felt an instant connection neither of us had ever felt before.

Tell us about the proposal.
Our first date was at the Mukilteo Landing Ivars. I was so nervous, I wanted everything to go perfectly. We had an amazing time so it was only natural to head back for my proposal. It was our anniversary of our first date so I called up the manager and asked if he could have the staff help me with the proposal. He agreed barely before I got the word out of my mouth. I had written a poem that asked her “The Question” that the waiter was to bring out with dessert. I pretended to use the restroom so that I could pass the poem to the waiter and make sure the hostesses were ready to take photos. I went back to the table nervously looking around for the waiter. It seemed like hours before he finally came around the corner. As he layer the poem in front of her I got the ring out of my pocket. As soon as she got to the line that asked for her to marry me I got down on my knee with the ring in hand in front of all the staff and patrons of the restaurant and asked her to make me the happiest man in the world and be my wife.

Why did you choose Maplehurst Farm for your wedding venue?
We liked the country farmhouse feel. We love the trees that line the driveway. As soon as we drove up to the venue we felt that it was the place we were going to get married.

Do you have any special moments planned for your farm wedding?
We will be doing a remembrance for Jonathon’s dad who passed away. We will be doing a hand tying/hand fasting ceremony. Prior to the ceremony we will be doing a sand ceremony with Jonathon’s sons.

If we ran in to you on a relaxed day off, what would you be doing?
We would be at the beach enjoying nature together. Taking a minute away from the busyness of life to enjoy time together.

Meet your photographers.

We’re Kate (she/her) and Josh (he/him). Married humans, emotional chaos wranglers, coffee worshippers, timeline nerds, Marvel fanatics, and occasional ugly criers at weddings. (Okay, maybe more than occasional. Look, vows get us. Every damn time.) Kate has been photographing since 1997 and Josh picked up the camera in 2011. We’ve done over 600 weddings together, including wedding coordination (sometimes we even get to do both at the same time!) 600+ weddings → “That’s 600 families who trusted us to be invisible magic and backup problem-solvers.” 14 years → “We’ve seen it all — and we know how to handle anything without making it your problem.” Coordination → Kate is also a certified coordinator which gives that extra boost for you during planning and on the day itself “We don’t just photograph your day — we keep it flowing, calm, and meaningful.”
