We had the pleasure of working with Erika and Jason and their amazing friends and family during their wedding at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium in Tacoma. The Zoo was filled with tons of opportunities for awesome details and portraits, and the couple and their family danced well into the night. Plus, how many weddings include a Tiger?
When we first started chatting with Erika and Jason about their wedding, we just couldn’t resist it – a zoo wedding, and better yet, a Point Defiance Zoo wedding. We even did a set of their engagement photos there.
Erika’s dress was fashion forward and elegant, with the shorter front, and her hairpiece matched perfectly (as did her hairstyle, but who would expect less from a hair stylist with bridesmaids that are, too!). Plus, she is a merchandiser for Chloe & Isabel, so her accessories were perfect.
When we were out and about taking their portraits (after their awesome first look on the stairs near the main office), we noticed the elephants were out – perfect photo opp, so we had to snatch it.
When we were in the planning stages of their wedding, the tiger was one of the most important things to them. The Point Defiance Zoo had arranged for trainers to be present and feeding specific animals in the reception area, and Erika & Jason really wanted to get a portrait with the tiger. I’d say she cooperated well 😉
Because of the variety and activity going on around in the reception area, Erika & Jason decided to keep things simple with the decor. It was elegant and sweet, understated but just the right impact for a zoo wedding.
Just as we thought, zoo weddings are amazing. We felt extremely honored to be a part of Erika and Jason’s day, thanks again for choosing us, guys!
